Natural Deodorant With Baking Soda: What You Should Know

Baking soda is popular in natural deodorant because it is inexpensive, familiar and useful in odor-focused formulations. It is also one of the ingredients most likely to create questions about skin tolerance.

What it is doing

Baking soda can contribute to an odor-management strategy and can influence the chemical environment of a formula. It is not an antiperspirant and should not be presented as one.

Why some people react

Underarm skin can be sensitive, especially after shaving. Some people tolerate baking soda well; others experience irritation. Skin response is individual.

More is not better

A higher amount does not automatically create a better deodorant. Formulation balance, particle size, dispersion and the rest of the base all influence the final experience.

How to evaluate it

If your skin is comfortable and odor is controlled, the formula may be working well for you. If you repeatedly develop burning or rash, stop using the product and reassess the formula.

Natural deodorant should be judged as a complete cosmetic formula, not by one ingredient alone.
